Working with schools
Through our free education service, we teach children about water treatment, water recycling, climate change, the water cycle and much more.
We aim to educate our future customers about how they can help protect the sewerage network and the environment by saving water and flushing the correct items down the loo.
What we offer
School visits: Our Education Advisers are able to visit schools and groups as well as continuing to offer virtual sessions and assemblies.
Site visits: We are inviting schools to book visits at the following sites: Holdenhurst, Saltford, Ashford, Sutton Poyntz, Sutton Bingham and Weston-super-Mare.

Speaker Service
Every year thousands of people from community groups discover more about our work through our volunteer speaker service.
We hold organised talks to educate community groups on how we treat water and sewage, while also arranging group visits to our sites to give people the opportunity to see first hand what we do.
Meet our Education Advisers
Our team of Education Advisers work with schools and groups across the region.
Sue 
I was involved in the launch of our education service in 1996, which involved making a number of our sites accessible for schools and members of the public to visit. I’m passionate about my work, so I really enjoy leading site tours and teaching students of all ages about the services we provide.
Tim 
After teaching in schools across Dorset for 30 years, I joined Wessex Water in 2019. I love doing practical learning activities with pupils, and I especially enjoy showing them around our fascinating sites – it’s great seeing the reactions of children as they learn about how our sites operate.
Meghan 
I’m passionate about learning outside the classroom, and my specialist subjects are geography and history. I used to be a teacher in London and Bath, before joining Wessex Water as an education adviser a couple of years ago. I now travel across the region to teach students all about our water and wastewater services.
Sam 
I am a keen environmentalist with a degree in environmental science and I have been a secondary school science teacher for 27 years and I've also worked with primary schools. I enjoy spending my free time in the countryside. I believe that the key to improving our natural world is by educating students on how to take good care of it.
